This Privacy Policy explains how AI Exam Preparation ("App," "we," "our") handles information when you use our application. We are committed to being transparent about how the App actually works, including exactly where your data goes.

Information We Collect

We do not create user accounts and do not collect personal identifiers such as your name, email address, or contacts list. The App has no login, no user profile, and no server-side database of any kind operated by us.

How the App Works

AI Exam Preparation generates quizzes, flashcards, short-answer practice questions, mock exams, study notes, and fill-in-the-blank questions from a topic or prompt you type, or from a document or image you upload — and grades your short-answer responses using AI.

Unlike a tool that only processes files on your device, generating study content is this App's core function, and that inherently requires a network request. When you generate content or submit an answer for grading, the topic or prompt text you entered is sent to a Cloud Function we operate, which relays it to OpenAI's API to produce the result. If you upload a document or image instead of typing a prompt, the App extracts its text entirely on-device first — using Apple's own on-device text-recognition (Vision) framework — and sends only that extracted text, never the original file itself, as part of the same request.

Every study set you generate — quiz, flashcard deck, short-answer set, mock exam, study notes, or fill-in-the-blank set — is saved locally on your Mac, in the App's own Library. It is never uploaded anywhere beyond the one-time generation request described above.

Every feature in the App tells you what it's doing — none of this happens silently or in a way that differs from what the feature itself describes.

Local Storage

The App stores a small amount of data locally on your Mac, inside its own sandboxed storage:

• Your appearance preference (Light, Dark, or System) and your generation-language preference
• Your remaining free-generation count, used to enforce the free-tier limit described in the App (shared across every study mode, not tracked per tool)
• A cached record of your subscription status, so the App can recognize Pro access without a network round-trip on every launch
• Every quiz, flashcard deck, short-answer set, mock exam, study-notes set, and fill-in-the-blank set you've generated, stored in the App's own Library

This data is not synced to any server we control and stays on your Mac unless you delete it yourself. You can clear saved content from the Library tab's "Clear All" option per category, or remove all of it by deleting the App.

Device Permissions

AI Exam Preparation does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, or location.

When you choose a document or image to upload, the App uses macOS's standard file picker. This grants the App access only to the specific file you select — it is not a standing "Files" permission, and nothing else on your Mac becomes visible to the App as a result.

Subscriptions & Payments

If you choose to subscribe to Pro (unlocking unlimited generations across every study mode):

• All payments are processed entirely through the Apple App Store, using Apple's StoreKit framework
• We do not collect, process, or store any payment or billing information ourselves
• We do not run any server-side receipt validation — subscription status is verified directly against Apple's records on your device
• Apple manages all transaction data under its own Privacy Policy

Third-Party Services

AI Exam Preparation uses two third parties, for different, limited purposes:

What happens to the text sent for AI generation: our Cloud Function is hosted on Google's Firebase platform, which relays your request to OpenAI's API and returns the result — it is not used for analytics or advertising of any kind, only as the infrastructure that carries your request. OpenAI's own API Data Usage Policy states that inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default, and are retained for up to 30 days to provide the service and monitor for abuse before being deleted, unless OpenAI is legally required to retain them longer. AI Exam Preparation does not create a per-user OpenAI account on your behalf — the App authenticates using our own developer credentials, not an account tied to you — so no name, email, or similar personal identifier of yours is sent to OpenAI through this integration.

None of the App's other features — including your saved Library, appearance settings, or subscription status — send any information anywhere. We do not integrate any advertising network.

Analytics & Tracking

• We do not use behavioral analytics tools that build a profile of individual users.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not serve ads of any kind.
• We do not use cookies, device fingerprinting, or the Apple IDFA.
• Although the App uses Google's Firebase platform to host the Cloud Function described above, we do not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Crashlytics, or any other analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
• If a future version adds crash or diagnostic reporting to help us fix bugs, we will update this policy before that change ships.

Data Storage & Security

Data stored locally (your Library, preferences, free-generation count, and cached subscription status) lives in the App's private sandboxed storage on your Mac, protected by macOS's built-in security features (Touch ID, password/passcode, FileVault where enabled).

When the App sends a prompt or extracted document text for generation or grading, that request travels over an encrypted (TLS) connection to our Cloud Function and on to OpenAI. We do not maintain any database of your generated content, prompts, or uploaded files on servers we operate, because we don't retain that content beyond completing the request — everything you keep afterward lives only in your Library, on your Mac.

Children's Privacy

AI Exam Preparation is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Parents and guardians should supervise use of the App by children and teenagers, particularly regarding any in-app purchases.

Your Rights

Because we do not maintain user accounts or any server-side database of our own, there is no persistent profile tied to you that we can access, export, or delete on our end — there simply isn't one. All locally stored App data (your Library, preferences, and free-generation count) can be deleted at any time from the Library tab's clear option, or by deleting the App entirely.

For data processed by Apple as part of a purchase, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for how to exercise any rights you may have with them directly.

For text sent to OpenAI as part of a generation or grading request, it is retained under OpenAI's own API Data Usage Policy (up to 30 days, as described above); you may refer to OpenAI's Privacy Policy for how to exercise any rights you may have with them directly.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do:

• The "Last Updated" date at the top will be revised.
• Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice.
• Your continued use of the App after updates are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

(Note: confirm this with a lawyer familiar with your actual jurisdiction — this clause should name the developer's home jurisdiction, not the user's, and needs review before publishing. Same caveat as the EULA's governing law clause.)
